Recap from Our Annual International Women’s Day Event

Yonkers, NY (March 30th, 2017) — As International Women’s Day is commemorated in the month March, ESAC held its event recognizing this hallmark. ESAC held its International Women’s Day event at a new location of: 1 Larkin Ave Yonkers, NY. Authentic Ethiopian food was served for free as a courtesy of the event and the attendees. ESAC began the event with a short film of Ethiopian Children playing cultural and custom ceremonial song along with games. Shortly, Joy (I-Shine Grey) introduced the day program as well as introduce the guest speaker of the event: Rabin Nickins. Rabin Nickins presented a powerful presentation on the long rich history of Ethiopia, giving her testimony on her travel to Ethiopia with ESAC during Summer of 2016. Ms. Nickins also explained the harsh treatment and unfortunate abuses of Ethiopian Migrant workers and urged the help of all towards ending this abuse (whether in form of volunteering, providing pro-bono expertise and much more)
Mrs. Joy then proceeded the event with an overview of ESAC’s existence (which has been over a decade) and huge emphasis on the issue of young Ethiopian(s) who are fleeing at alarming rates to Middle Eastern countries who get abused and enslaved, even threatening their lives (in many cases, has happened). Generally, the problem has so many angles but mostly the issue of these young women fleeing from their native country of Ethiopia is to find a better opportunity and helping their family. ESAC founder stressed that the organization needs the support of everyone as ESAC has
Generally, the problem has so many angles but mostly the issue of these young women fleeing from their native country of Ethiopia is to find a better opportunity and helping their family. ESAC founder stressed that the organization needs to move to action and that it is more than just a discussion, to become a member of ESAC and support the mission of the organization toward action to solve the problem. ESAC Chairperson/Founder also mentioned that to not only discuss women issues but to find a solution that everyone can commit to. We hope all attendees sign up to become a member and we welcome volunteers to help end the abuse against Ethiopian Women Domestic Workers in the Middle East! ESAC is focusing on Ethiopian Domestic Worker Abuse and has started several dialogues with liable Middle Eastern Countries.
